Organizations that Support Talea
The Talea Ensemble thanks you kindly for your support and commitment of contemporary music!
Talea is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The Talea Ensemble’s 2023-24 season projects are supported in part by the Alice M. Ditson Fund, Amphion Foundation, Howard Gilman Foundation, Fan Fox & Leslie R. Samuels Foundation, Ernst von Siemens Musikstiftung, and generous donors like you. Talea’s season is also made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
Support Our 15th Season!
At our 15th year, the Talea Ensemble is in an exciting period of transition and growth. Alongside around 15 to 20 performances each season, Talea is investing more than ever before in programs for early-career artists and audience building. Some of our recent priorities that need your support include:
- Since 2023, our annual Recording Workshop for early-career composers, in which we workshop recent compositions, produce free professional recordings, and offer professional development and a public performance.
- Early Career Composer Commission: second edition to open in summer 2024, for a 2025 premiere
- Ambassadors: A season-long hybrid residency spotlighting artists from a different region each season through performance, podcast interviews, and discussion. Our June 2024 concert highlights composers from France, and for 2024/25, our focus is Cyprus.
- New Opera: Talea is developing operas with Suzanne Farrin (Macabea) and Alec Hall (The Life to Come) and will publicly workshop them for the second time in the 2024/25 season for future premieres
We need your help! Your support would especially go towards our artist development initiatives and our ambitious, explorative self-produced programs. For a small, artist-powered organization like Talea, every contribution truly makes a difference. For example, $100-$200 allows us to make a podcast and offer a professional development session for early career composers. $200-$500 goes a long way in helping us to rent/license music. $500-$1000 can underwrite part or all of a musician’s work for a concert. $2000 covers expenses for an entire commission in our early career composers program. Every dollar counts in helping Talea create the impact we want to see on our community of musicians, composers, and audiences.
Additionally, we’re excited to launch new giving levels and and ways to celebrate your contributions:
