Join the Talea team! Talea is hiring a part-time Production Coordinator to begin in June 2018. Applicants should have a background in production and arts administration, and an interest in joining a fast-paced and agile administrative team to oversee one of New York’s leading performing arts organizations.

The Production Coordinator will work closely with key members of the leadership staff and ensemble to support all activities related to production, operations, and personnel. The Production Coordinator is a part-time position that requires circa ten hours per week. The majority of hours are flexible and most work can be done remotely, but concerts and touring productions will require some work on evenings and weekends, and possible travel.

Successful candidates must possess strong communication and organizational skills, and a professional, outgoing demeanor with exceptional interpersonal skills. Attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure are a must. Excellent writing and computer skills are also required. Job duties often involve lifting or moving objects that weigh as much as 25 lbs.

The ideal candidate will be creative, take initiative, and play an active role in helping shape the ensemble’s projects. Salary is $10,000 annually, with additional compensation for touring productions.

Responsibilities include:

-Oversee all operations, including creation of a master production schedule with the Executive Director, maintenance of up-to-date planning documents, and consultation with staff and musicians to assess logistical needs for all projects.

-Coordinate with production staff and institutional partners to develop the technical rider for all contracted services. Communicate production needs to venues and presenters, including stage diagrams, tech riders, and other needs.

-Contract the musicians and act as a primary point of communication for each project, including rehearsal schedule, project information, and workforce administration.

-Book travel and accommodations, and assist with schedule planning for all touring productions; coordinate tour production efforts with presenters; manage musicians’ requests with regard to travel and accommodations.

-As needed, accompany the ensemble on tour (any touring the position requires will receive additional compensation. Tours are typically 3-7 days in length.)

-Serve as Stage Manager during dress rehearsals and concerts in New York and on tour, including oversight of load-in, load-out, stage setups, and stage changes.

-Coordinate with publishers and/or composers to distribute scores and parts to the ensemble.

-Assist with opening and closing the studio in Long Island City for rehearsals when required.

-Other responsibilities, as requested.

Qualifications

-Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working in production/operation support, ideally in music
-Strong interpersonal communication skills
-Ability to work independently and on a team
-Expertise in Microsoft Office suite and Google Drive or equivalent
-Familiarity with Quickbooks and/or graphic design software a plus
-Interest or a background in contemporary music is encouraged but not required
