On the winter solstice, Talea will perform Georg Friedrich Haas’s Solstices for ten musicians in complete darkness at PS21 in Chatham, NY. By subtracting light from our experience, Solstices adds a new lens to our ability to relate to sound, bringing together performers and audiences through intensive listening. Solstices is an immersive, sensory work expanding the listening experience through worlds of microtones and overtones and evoking the natural phenomena of planetary movement. The performance begins at sunset, 4:26 PM, on the shortest day of the year, to mark the passage from autumn to winter.
